How we help
The Relief Fund was created in response to the 2023 WGA work stoppage to provide an emergency backstop to ensure talented disabled creatives aren’t forced to leave the industry due to financial necessity during crises.

About
Why did you create the Fund?
We initially created the Fund in response to the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. In April 2023, we surveyed 33 disabled screenwriters about the impact of a strike and found it could be devastating for their financial wellbeing and career stability.
We created the Emergency Relief Fund to help support this precarious workforce during an unfolding crisis. The larger goal of the Fund is to provide as-needed support to disabled screenwriters in times of crisis and career instability.
How much money can I receive from the Fund?
The Fund will provide grants starting at $500 to disabled writers who lost income and job opportunities because of the WGA strike. Grant amounts may change in future rounds depending on the severity and duration of each crisis.
How will I receive payment?
Funding is provided in the form of hardship grants through ACH Direct Deposit or check. Hardship grants are intended to be non-taxable income, but we recommend you speak to an accountant to make a determination on the tax status of the grant.
How quickly will I receive payment?
In order to be as responsive as possible, we are keeping our application windows short and we aim to review applications in 10 days or less. If you are awarded a grant, we will reach out via email to complete the Grant Agreement and initiate the payment process.

Do I need to be disabled to receive funding?
The Emergency Relief Fund is intended for writers who identify as disabled, including those with physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, chronic health conditions, mental illnesses, blindness, low vision, deafness, neurodivergence, etc.
