Accessibility Statement for Our Website

Inevitable Foundation is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Measures to support accessibility

Inevitable Foundation takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Main Website:

  • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.
  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • Assign clear accessibility targets and responsibilities.

Areas to improve

We are aware of a number of known accessibility issues with Squarespace, which this website is built on, and Airtable, which we use for our non-assistive technology Fellowship application. We are pressuring these platforms to make these improvements, but they are unfortunately out of our control since they are issues at a platform level. Even so, we are documenting them below and will update this page as they are remediated.

Squarespace

  • [id] attributes on active, focusable elements are not unique for a#site-title
  • Some elements have a [tabindex] value greater than 0 for a.header-skip-link

Airtable

  • Elements with an ARIA [role] that require children to contain a specific [role] are missing some or all of those required children for ul
  • [aria-*] attributes do not have valid values for ul
  • Background and foreground colors do not have a sufficient contrast ratio for a.text-blue.underline, div.ml1.strong, div.ml1.strong, a.text-blue.underline.rounded.focusable-stroked, input.submitButton.blue.rounded-big.px2.py1.text-white.strong.huge.border-none.submit.styled-input.focus- visible.pointer.link-quiet, div.mt2.quieter.small, div.flex-inline.items-center.link-quiet.understroke.pointer.focus-visible
  • <html> element does not have a [lang] attribute
  • [user-scalable="no"] is used in the <meta name="viewport"> element or the [maximum-scale] attribute is less than 5 for meta.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Main Website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
